Continual Success of Modular Construction

Composed of two 40-floor tower blocks, the Clementi Avenue condominium project will have 65% of the towers’ superstructure constructed using Prefabricated Pre-finished Volumetric Construction (PPVC).

At the beginning of April, United Venture Development appointed Dragages Singapore to design and build a new housing project on Clementi Avenue, adjacent to schools and residential developments, in the west of Singapore. The two 40-floor tower blocks will provide 505 apartments with a total floor area of 46,000 sqm.

Our relationship built on mutual trust with United Venture Development (a joint venture between UOL Venture Investments and Singland Homes), together with our proven success in the adoption of modular construction, are our major winning factors of this contract. As a pioneer in innovative construction, Dragages Singapore first introduced PPVC in the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel extension (CPEX) – a FIRST in Singapore’s private sector projects. This construction method is an exemplary of sustainable construction with significant improvement to productivity while keeping environmental impact to the minimum. Riding on the success of CEPX, PPVC was also applied to the Woodlands Crescent Nursing Home project recently.

The adoption of modular construction system with reinforced concrete structure is a distinct construction feature in the Clementi Avenue project. This is in conformity with Singapore authorities’ requirements to construct 65% of the building’s superstructure using PPVC.
