In association with the BCA Academy, on October 15th Dragages Singapore hosted its 2019 Innovation Day. This unique event, with 200 in attendance, was a platform to facilitate sharing around the innovations which have defined Dragages’ impact on Singapore’s development, and which have cemented the group’s competitiveness globally.
Over 35 years, our culture of innovation has manifested itself in flagship projects across Singapore. Across design, financing, construction techniques and technologies, numerous innovations first pioneered by the group have now become best practice for the construction industry at large.
Among these trailblazing firsts:
1996 – FIRST in Singapore to achieve a 4-day cycle on a high rise office tower
2008 – FIRST in Singapore to use concrete Grade 80 for the Sail at Marina Bay;
2008 – FIRST in Singapore to use Precast Bathroom Units (PBU) for the Sail at Marina Bay;
2014 – FIRST full crossed border BIM implementation at the Singapore Sport Hub.
2016 – FIRST in Singapore to use DfMA construction for a luxury hotel;
2018 – FIRST in the world to build a 40-storey building using DfMA construction
Today, our focus is to remain at the cutting edge of innovation in all disciplines of our industry, by constantly reinventing ourselves to deliver projects with greater efficiency, safety, time-to-market, and client satisfaction.
Innovation Day 2019 included presentations, start-up pitches, and an innovation trade show organised around 10 themes including modular construction, digitalisation, geolocation, smart home, on-site ergonomics, R&D and virtual reality for safety.
As the group positions itself for the next 35 years, it is the underlying culture of innovation and pushing boundaries practiced by our teams which will guide the way.
